Inter-Federation Print Battle:
Organised by Swansea Camera Club.
Celtic Challenge:
WPF event for which an entry is chosen from the Welsh Salon.
Barrien Cup:
Organised by Barry Camera Club. 6 prints per club, entries mid May.
PAGB:
2 events – Warwick for slides in July and Deeside in October for prints. 2 Clubs are chosen
by the WPF to represent them in this event.
Swansea Exhibition of International Photography:
Organised by Swansea Camera Club. FREE entry for members. Entries by January.
Bridgend Five-Way Print Battle:
Organised by Bridgend Camera Club. Held early November. Hand in for entries October.
Stanley Chell:
Organised by Aberdare Camera Club. 4 prints per club. Hand in October.
Mannheim Plate Competition:
An inter-club battle between Swansea Clubs. 6 prints from each club. Hand in December.
Memorial Trophy:
AWPF event. 4 prints from each club. Held in January. Hand in December.
Welsh International Slides:
Hosted by WPF in February. Hand in January. Entry fees required.
Ace of Clubs:
Projected Image Competition. AWPF event that mimics the PAGD slide competition. Hand in January.
Welsh Salon of Photography:
Colour & mono prints and/or slides for the Walter and Gwyn Morgan trophies.
Individual entries through the club, which can nominate 6 prints and 6 slides for the two trophies. Had in Mid February.
Dean Creative Printing Competition:
Individual entry and club entry. Closing date June.
Four Seasons:
Abergavenny in July. Individual and club entry. Closing date June.
The Beyon Trophy:
Organised by Swansea – 10 way battle with invited clubs.
Pixels:
Organised by Gwynfa Camera Club. 4 images per club. End of October hand in.
Welsh International Projected Image Salon:
Includes the Glan & Mair Howells Trophy for the WPF. Not more than 4 images in each section -travel, nature and general.Digital entry. Hand in January.


INTERNATIONAL ORGANISATIONS

Federation International d’Art Photographique (FIAP)
Qualifications range through AFIAP, EFIAP & MFIAP. Distinctions obtained through acceptances and awards in International Exhibitions. It takes 10 years to get to the top.
PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY of AMERICA (PSA)
They award points to members who enter International Competitions.


QUALIFICATIONS AVAILABLE


These are the letters behind so many photographers’ names:
RPS – Royal Photographic Society:
3 levels each for a panel of individual prints. LRPS (Liceniate) 12 prints / ARPS (Associate) 15 prints
FRPS (Fellow) 20 prints.
PAGB Photographic Alliance of Great Britain:
3 levels each for a collection of individual prints. CPAGB (Credit) 10 prints / DPAGB (Distinction) 15 prints / MPAGB (Master) 20 prints.
British Photographic Exhibition:
Based on the acceptances achieved at exhibitions organised by individual affiliated clubs. One point is awarded for each acceptance with a miximum of 4 in each open section.
AWPF:
A Welsh Photographic Federation award for a panel of prints. Not recognised outside the WPF area, but a good starting point for those wishing to take a competitive route.
